I hope everyone is staying safe during this quarantine! This week we have a super fun summer activity for everyone to try once the pandemic ends! With summer fast approaching many of us will be hitting the beach for some fun day or weeklong trips.

A beach is a fun place but it’s another place where you can get a fun alternative workout in! You may be thinking that we are going to talk about swimming or running but we have something way more fun than that.

For this week’s alternative workout, we are going to talk about hitting the waves and going surfing. Surfing is not only a great workout but its super fun and relaxing too. When you go surfing your whole body is at work.

Surfing

Surfing involves a lot of different body parts. To start your arms are constantly at work paddling into waves and paddling up the current. Your arms take the biggest beating while surfing by far buts it’s a great arm workout.

Since you will be paddling so much you will be burning a lot of calories, especially in the summer heat. This means you will be burning lots of calories between 1,000 to 2,000 depending on how long you surf for and what the conditions are like.

Along with getting a great cardio workout in you will be getting a great core workout in. Since you will constantly be going from flat to standing you will be doing a lot of core workout which will strengthen your core.

Surfing is a great alternative workout that you should consider trying. It is loads of fun especially in the summer when everyone is going to the beach. It’s a great full-body workout and everyone will benefit from it.

My Opinion

I personally go surfing as much as possible in the summer. It is super relaxing and is a lot of fun to do with friends. I highly recommend giving it a shot next time you’re at the beach. It will benefit your whole body and you will have fun!
