This week we are going to talk about a fun alternative workout now that it is starting to get warmer. Since we are still in quarantine people are starting to get bored and are struggling to get out and workout.
Summer is approaching and once this virus is eliminated life will resume and everything will slowly go back to normal. But in the meantime, we are stuck in our houses with not much to do so why not take advantage of that and learn a new sport?
For this week’s alternative workout, we are going to talk about skateboarding! We will cover why skateboarding is a good workout and how you can take advantage of this time right now to learn about how to skateboard.
Skateboarding
To start skateboarding isn’t all about tricks. In fact, skateboarding is just a general term. When it comes to skateboarding, there are different boards. For this week we are going to focus on longboards.
A longboard is a longer skateboard and resembles more of a surfboard than a skateboard. They are made for going long distances and being able to cruise longer. So why is skateboarding a better workout?
Skateboarding involves a lot of your body and many people don’t realize that. When skateboarding your legs, core, and balance are all at work. This is why skateboarding is such a great workout.
If you go for a skateboard ride every day and spend 45 to 60 minutes riding, you will one improve your leg strength because of pushing. Along with your leg strength, you will improve your core strength from constantly turning and twisting back and forth from pushing and riding.
On top of all of that, you will be increasing your balancing abilities as you ride. Skateboarding is a great workout and many people should consider learning it during this pandemic going on. Find your nearest skate shop or order a board online and start practicing.
