Hit the Slopes For a Fun Workout!

This week we are going to talk about another fun workout off-campus. For this week’s topic, we are going to talk about snowboarding and skiing and how it’s a good alternative workout. Let’s dive in a see how winter sports are a good alternate workout for college students.
Why Students Should Go
Stevenson students are lucky enough to have three ski slopes all located within an hour of the school. Liberty, Round Top, and Whitetail Ski Resort are all close to Stevenson and offer a wide variety of terrain for everyone to enjoy. Most students when they think of hitting the slopes though see a large problem with cost.
The good thing about the ski resorts nearby though is they offer student days where renting snowboards/skis and getting a pass all cost $30. That’s a very good deal considering all that usually costs $120! Students can afford skiing at an affordable rate and not only that but it’s a great workout and its fun.

How is Snowboarding/Skiing a Good Workout?
Winter sports are a lot of fun. You get to enjoy the snow and get a good workout in while you’re enjoying the slopes. When you go on the slopes most people don’t realize they burn a lot of calories.
Since snowboarding and skiing are involve a lot of your body's core you will be burning a lot of calories. Not only are you getting a core workout, but you will also achieve a leg workout since you are constantly using your legs for both skiing and snowboarding.
Getting out and taking advantage of a great ski deal is a good idea for anyone looking to get a fun and alternative workout. It’s a fun way to get a workout in every once and awhile and you can do it with a group of friends too.

I have been snowboarding for 8 years now and I can say it is an amazing workout. When I go up to the mountain, I usually snowboard the whole day. Within a day of snowboarding, you can burn over 1,000 calories because of how vigorous it can be on the body.
I love snowboarding and think it’s a lot of fun especially when you have a good group of friends to go to. I think it’s a fun a great alternative workout to get in every once and a while!
