This week we are going to talk about one of the easiest ways to stay in shape, running. Now running isn’t an alternative way to work out on campus. Lots of people run on campus or in the gym to stay in shape.

Running may be a normal thing to do but the ways in which you go about running can be very different. Today we are going to talk about different approaches to running and how they can benefit you. Let’s take a look at some options when it comes to running.

Different Approaches to Running

When people think about running many people think of a treadmill or a road. When in reality you can run anywhere because all you need are your legs. The first fun way to approach running is to go to new places you have never been to.

Before you go out on a run to find a place on a map that looks interesting or a place nearby that you have always wanted to check out. Run to that location and run back. By doing this you will get a good run in as long as it’s a decent distance away and you will be motivated to get to where you want to be.

The next approach you can take to running is trail running. As mentioned in the last post finding local trails to go hike at is a fun workout. But you can also use those trails for getting an amazing running workout in.

Trail running is a fun way to go run because you are constantly seeing different and natural scenery. Not only that but along with running, you have to endure uphill and downhill slopes that will help you burn more calories as you run. Trail running is a fun way to mix up your run and its personally my favorite because I love being outdoors.

My Preference

Running is not my favorite workout activity because I get bored running very easy. The way I combat this is by going trail running. Trail running keeps me on my toes and the constant change in scenery keeps me motivated to keep pushing myself to go further.

Running is by far the best way to keep yourself in great physical health. Using the approaches above or one that you think of for running is a good way to stay motivated and push yourself the extra mile when it comes to running. Running doesn’t have to be inside or on a road, it can be where ever you want it to be.

  1. I too find it hard to stay focused on a run. I think trail running is a great way to add interest to the activity!

  2. This is so great! I run usually on a treadmill but hope to find some nice trails around Stevenson when spring rolls around! Check out Oregon Ridge, the Loch Raven Reservoir, and the NCR trail around Stevenson!
